Book Club: The Black Sun - Stanton Marlan
We invite you to join us for an immersive seven-week book club as we explore Stanton Marlan’s The Black Sun: The Alchemy and Art of Darkness. This profound work delves into the paradoxical nature of darkness, not as something to be avoided or transcended, but as an essential force within the human psyche—one that carries both despair and transformation.
Marlan examines the black sun as a symbol of both psychic suffering and mystical illumination, drawing from alchemy, theology, art, and Jungian analysis to illuminate the role of darkness in modern thought and personal individuation. This book offers a rich, contemplative journey through the shadow, depression, and the unknown Self—a journey we will embark on together.
