Jung once declared, “We all need nourishment for our psyche.  It is impossible to find such nourishment in an urban tenement without a patch of green or a blossoming tree.  We need a relationship with nature.”  The extent to which we wall ourselves off from such a relationship was of deep concern to Jung.  On Friday evening we will explore the roots of this attitude in Judaeo-Christian myth and in modern science.  But we will also bear witness to creative energies arising from the collective unconscious, especially since the pivotal year of 1972, to seed a new story about what it means to be human.

Free underground parking is available at the Best Western Village Park Inn. Park, then register your vehicle's licence plate at the hotel registration desk.

Presenter Biography

Karen Hodges is a diplomate of the C. G. Jung Institute in Zürich, Switzerland.  Since 1996, she has been in private practice as a Jungian analyst in Charlotte, North Carolina.  With a Ph.D. in English literature, she has presented lectures and seminars on a wide variety of topics at the intersection of psychology and the humanities.  The material Dr. Hodges brings to the Calgary Jung Society draws upon her background in depth psychology, but also reflects a life-long interest in the relatively young scientific field of ecology.
